Sink drain repair in Dubai
Slow sink, standing water, or a cabinet that is wet underneath. Three different faults.
Quick answer
What causes a sink to drain slowly?
A sink drains slowly when its waste pipe or trap is restricted, usually by a build-up of grease and food in a kitchen, or hair and soap in a bathroom. A sink that leaks rather than drains slowly has a different fault, normally a failed trap or a loose waste connection. The two need different fixes.
Slow, blocked, or leaking are three different problems
It is worth being precise about which one you have, because the fixes barely overlap. A slow or blocked sink has a restriction in the waste or trap and needs clearing. A leaking sink has a failed seal or a cracked trap and needs a part repaired or replaced, not cleared. And a sink that drains slowly while a smell rises from it may have a trap that has dried out or been wrongly plumbed, which is a third thing again.
A kitchen sink almost always blocks with grease and food, cooled and hardened in the trap and the horizontal waste behind it. A bathroom sink almost always blocks with hair bound together by soap. Knowing which sink it is tells us what we are going to find before we open the cabinet.

How we fix it
For a blockage, we clear the trap and the waste line mechanically. For a greased kitchen line that has blocked more than once, clearing the trap is not enough, because the coating stays on the pipe wall behind it and the sink slows again within weeks; that line wants jetting. For a leak, we identify whether it is the trap, a compression joint or the waste connection, and repair or replace the failed part.
Where a sink blocks repeatedly and the trap is clearly not the cause, the restriction is further along the line, and we put a camera on it rather than clearing the same trap a fourth time.
What we see under Dubai sinks
- Hardened grease in kitchen traps and waste runs, from fat and oil poured down the sink. The commonest kitchen fault, and preventable with a strainer and a habit change.
- Hair and soap in bathroom traps, binding into a mass that a strainer would have caught.
- Failed trap seals and cracked plastic traps, which present as a wet cabinet rather than a slow sink.
- Poorly plumbed wastes from a previous installation, where the trap is the wrong type or the fall is wrong, causing slow drainage that clearing never quite fixes.
- Foreign objects, particularly in bathroom sinks, from bottle caps to jewellery.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my kitchen sink keep clogging?
Almost always grease. Fat and oil leave the pan liquid, cool in the trap and the horizontal waste behind the sink, and harden onto the pipe wall. Clearing the trap removes the plug but leaves the coating, so the sink slows again within weeks. A greased line that has blocked repeatedly wants jetting to remove the coating, and the habit that prevents it is keeping fat out of the sink and fitting a strainer.
My sink is leaking underneath. Is that the same as a blockage?
No, it is a different fault and needs a different fix. A leak under the sink is usually a failed trap seal, a loose compression joint, or a cracked plastic trap, and the answer is to repair or replace the failed part rather than clear anything. Clearing a leaking sink does nothing. Tell us it is leaking rather than blocked and we will bring the right parts.
Can I use a chemical cleaner on a slow sink?
For a bathroom sink with a soft hair and soap blockage near the top, it sometimes helps. For a kitchen sink blocked with hardened grease, it does not, and in older plastic traps the heat it generates can deform the fitting. It also leaves the trap hazardous to open. Mechanical clearing is more reliable and does not create a hazard, so it is what we use.
How do I stop my bathroom sink blocking?
Fit a strainer over the waste to catch hair before it enters the trap, and clear it regularly. Most bathroom sink blockages are hair bound together with soap, and a strainer catches the hair while it is still easy to remove. It is the single most effective thing you can do, and it costs almost nothing.
Do you offer sink drain repair near me?
For a service like this, near me really means how quickly we can get to you. We provide sink drain repair across Dubai, working from our base in Al Quoz Industrial Third, so a near me search is answered less by a branch on your street and more by how quickly we can reach you. That depends on where you are in the city, the time of day and access, so rather than claim to be the nearest, we ask where you are and give you a realistic time to attend. Tell us your location and what you need, and we will be straight about when we can be there.
